A good actuary requires a multidisciplinary education in areas such as mathematics, economics, finance, statistics, risk management, psychology and professional skills and ethics. Requires a combination of strong analytical skills, business knowledge and understanding of human behaviour to design and manage programs that manage risk and ensure adequate funding for the insurance and pension industry. Actuaries have traditionally worked mainly in the life insurance and pensions sectors, but are increasingly moving into wider areas where they can use their multidisciplinary approach. The course also opens up opportunities to work in finance, investment and business.
