By choosing Acadia's Informatics graduate program, you will increase the depth and breadth of your knowledge through additional courses and studies, and you will further develop your research skills through the development of complex projects and theses with a supervisor. The Jodrey School of Computing is a strong leader in the Acadia Institute for Data Analytics (AIDA), which offers many opportunities for you to collaborate with local business and industry partners using data to solve problems of interest. AIDA is run by the Acadia Center for Entrepreneurship - its programming helps you connect with local businesses and entrepreneurs.
Acadia produced the world's first Web Census - a comprehensive study of all Web servers on the publicly addressable Internet - and was prolific in researching the results and methods for learning Web structure. Our expertise in artificial intelligence, mobile computing and multi-agent systems is strengthened by collaboration between our researchers and students in the Cooperative Intelligent Distributed Systems Group and the Intelligent Information Technology Research Laboratory.

The Department of Art offers degree programs leading to Doctor of Philosophy degrees in the history of art, design and visual culture, as well as Master of Fine Arts and Master of Design degrees in several studio disciplines. The department also offers undergraduate programs in art history, design and visual culture. Programs leading to the MDes degree offer advanced study in visual communication design or industrial design. Programs leading to an MFA degree are designed for advanced students in painting, sculpture, printmaking, or drawing/medium. Master's and PhD programs in art history, design and visual culture offer advanced study and research.
An MA can be either course-based or thesis-based. Masters students of the studio are offered enough independent workspaces and all the equipment necessary for the development of study and research work. A well-stocked university library and the department's Visual Resource Center with access to digital images and over 300,000 slides provide reference material. 18 full-time academic staff are available for guidance and discussion. Why study this program?
The Department of Anthropology offers a doctor of philosophy and a master's degree (on a thesis basis). The Department's minimum admission requirements for the Master's program (thesis-based) is a bachelor's degree in Anthropology or a closely related discipline with a GPA of at least 3.3 on a 4-point scale from the University of Alberta or an equivalent qualification. and from a recognized institution. The Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine offers a program leading to a master's degree in anesthesiology and pain medicine with a medical program. Artificial intelligence is one of the most exciting and fastest-growing areas of ICT and science. Artificial intelligence is capable of providing intelligent solutions to help us tackle many of today's biggest societal challenges. Be part of this exciting development by joining the one-year MSc in Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence.
This program is aimed at graduates with a basic qualification in Computer Science or a related field. This is not a refresher course but assumes that students already have a very high technical level of computer science training. The full-time MSc in Artificial Intelligence is taught by recognized interdisciplinary experts from the University of Galway. Over two semesters, it covers many complementary areas of AI, including deep learning, natural language processing, optimization and reinforcement. In addition, students reinforce their new skills in a 30-credit project completed over the summer. Here, students can have the opportunity to work with a research group or industrial partner.

This course is designed to train and equip graduates to prepare them for the growing opportunities to work as data analysts in demand across a wide range of industries including finance, management, manufacturing, food, healthcare and media. The course emphasizes the development of a strong theoretical and applied foundation and builds on our existing data science and analytical strengths in the School of Information Technology and the Insight Institute, as well as our experience of completing successful Masters's in Data Analytics.
Upon completion of the program, graduates are eligible for the highly successful MSc Data Analytics or MSc Artificial Intelligence, offering more in-depth and specialized training in advanced data science or artificial intelligence topics such as machine learning. Transfer to these programs requires funds and at least a high 2:1 standing in undergraduate studies at the discretion of the program director.
