The Graduate Diploma in Actuarial Science offers possible exemptions from the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (UK) Technical Core Subjects 1-8 (CT1-8) examinations. If you have previous actuarial exemptions, you can choose to study all or part of the curriculum to study the Core Applications 1 (CA1) program at the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (UK). Therefore the program is suitable for students without; previous exemptions and students who wish to add existing exemptions.

A good actuary requires a multidisciplinary education in areas such as mathematics, economics, finance, statistics, risk management, psychology and professional skills and ethics. Requires a combination of strong analytical skills, business knowledge and understanding of human behaviour to design and manage programs that manage risk and ensure adequate funding for the insurance and pension industry. Actuaries have traditionally worked mainly in the life insurance and pensions sectors, but are increasingly moving into wider areas where they can use their multidisciplinary approach.
