The University of East London is based at three campuses across the east of the capital, in Stratford and Docklands. It originally opened in 1898 as the West Ham Technical Institute, gaining university status and its current name in 1992. It has around 25,000 students a year including international students from 135 different countries. The university has been ranked among the world’s top young 200 universities.
