Course Details

The College of Mathematics offers a one-year (full-time) M.Sc. in high-performance computing. The degree provides hands-on training in the emerging field of high-performance computing. The course aims to train students in the practical applications of effective technical calculation in industry, finance and science. The course includes computer architecture, software optimization, parallel programming, classical simulation and stochastic modelling.

Students have unlimited access to their teaching computing lab and Trinity College's High-Performance Computing Center facilities, which include massively parallel computers. Career opportunities include mathematical modelling, simulation and forecasting, database mining and resource management. The techniques covered during the year enable students to work with advanced software, including concurrent and concurrent software. High-performance engineering computing methods are becoming more common in research in mathematics, physics, chemistry and biotechnology, engineering and finance, and offer a wide range of options for students who want to explore further.

About Trinity College Dublin

Trinity College Dublin was founded in 1592 by Queen Elizabeth I as the first college of the University of Dublin. It was intended to be a collegiate university like the universities of Oxford and Cambridge, but Trinity College was the only college created and so the University of Dublin is its degree-awarding body and the two names are usually interchangeable. It is one of the seven ancient universities of Great Britain and Ireland and is the oldest surviving Irish university. Today it hosts around 20,000 students including international students from more than 122 countries. Trinity College Dublin is ranked 1st in Ireland and 98th in the world and also ranks in the top 100 in 19 subjects, globally. It also ranks as the 12th most international university in the world in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2022.

Course Details

Computer science is the study of everything related to computers and our relationship with them. Computer scientists are critical to the efficient functioning of modern societies, working in healthcare, security, banking and finance, transportation, and now increasingly communication through social networks. Computer professionals deal with theoretical issues, solve complex problems, and deal with ethical issues and society as a whole. The theoretical questions of computer science are related to the abstract concepts of computing and information.
